Welcome to Young Lawyers’ Legal Labyrinth!
Navigating the transition from law school to legal practice can feel like a maze—full of unexpected turns, unanswered questions, and lessons you only learn by doing. Young Lawyers’ Legal Labyrinth is my space to share my experiences as an articling student, explore the challenges of starting out in the profession, and build a resource for others on the same path.
As I continue my articling journey, I’ll be sharing blog posts, reflections, and answers to the questions I’ve had along the way. I hope this platform becomes a valuable resource for young lawyers looking to find their way through the legal labyrinth.
One key feature of this site is Ask & Answer, a column where I post the questions I’m currently navigating. Whether you’re a fellow young lawyer looking for answers or a seasoned professional willing to share insights, I invite you to join the conversation. At the bottom of the Ask & Answer page you will find a contact box where you can provide advice, offer guidance, or even ask your own burning questions.
Here’s to navigating the twists and turns of the legal profession, together!
My name is Dominika Zwerello. I am currently 3 months into my articling term. I graduated from an honours degree in Law from Swansea University in 2023 and graduated from an honours degree in English Literature from Trent University. Since I graduated overseas, when I returned to Canada I wrote and passed all qualifying NCA exams to qualify my degree in Canada. I am doing my articling in a Family Law firm in London Ontario. I am studying for my bar exam, which i scheduled for November 2025.
I have worked in Swansea Law Clinic doing a number of different projects, all probono. One of the projects I worked on was the MisCarriage of Justice Project where we would look over and pick apart the cases of people imprisoned who believed that they are innocent and has exhausted all their other appeal options. We would look over file, submit freedom of information requests, send letters or attend phone calls with the clients, etc.
